Campaigners against student loans in Guernsey have been adding more signatures to their petition.
The Education Department plans to introduce loans to help cover rising tuition costs.
Students will have to borrow up to £4,000 a year towards the cost of study on top of a means-tested grants and fees system based on parents' income.
States members will get the chance to vote in November on whether to bring in student loans.
The students, who have been out among shoppers in Guernsey, already have more than 1,000 signatures on the petition which will be handed to the States.
About 900 young people from Guernsey are studying at universities or colleges around the UK.
